I work from home and rely on having a landline, even to this day (easier to type and talk and not be on speaker). I've gone from a Bell hard-wire, to Rogers virtual and now Bell virtual landline. Bundling Internet, TV and home Phone gets some deep discounts (but you have to bug them every year).
Trish's home phone went from a Bell hard-wire, to Comcast VOIP and is now MagicJack. I'll eventually go to a VOIP service as well (or finally get rid of the line when I retire).
